Collaboration Kings
THE PLAY
Virtual Workspaces
The Internet has enabled international communities to collaborate on all types of projects – people can now easily work together on anything from information sites like wikipedia to business focused enterprise management activities.
Project collaboration software has been along for awhile, but it has long since moved beyond internal team brainstorming, group emails and conference calls – we are now presented with technologies that support borderless, real-time collaboration –indifferent to location or time zone.
Notably, there are a number of large corporations that have created and delivered collaborative workspaces for business and individuals alike – some of these include Microshoft’s Sharepoint and Google’s Google Groups. When it comes to collaboration, these work spaces provide an area for teams to plan projects, note and track ideas, share files, and communicate with team members.
One of the main benefits of these collaborative work spaces is that they allow for the easy management and tracking of project progress from all sides. As work gets done or questions arise everyone using the collaborative work space has access to the same information though an easy to use interface. By making any and all information available to each workspace user through a single application the communication process is streamlined and instances of miscommunication are reduced.
Online collaborative workspaces are gaining popularity and we are seeing more and more companies offering them on the Web. The benefits are obvious and the collaborative work spaces are readily available.
