Digital Mail Going Postal
THE PLAY
Email the old-fashioned way...sort of.
It's not everyday that you come across something that is both useful and free - but today I found a site that offers exactly that - something useful for free. There is a catch though; it has to be used in Canada.
EasyPost.ca is putting a modern spin on an almost lost activity - letter writing. For many of us it may be difficult to remember when it was exactly that we sat down, wrote and mailed a letter, with a stamp and all, to a friend or family member. And, I am sure there are younger, internet savvy individuals who have never hand written and mailed a letter. In part, this can be attributed to the rise and domination of communication technologies like email, mobile phones, and social networks. Peer-to-peer communication takes place instantaneously these days, and the process of writing and sending a letter the old-fashioned way seems time consuming and unnecessary.
However, for those that don't want to trade their keyboard for pencil there's EasyPost. EasyPost lets users type and send real letters, printed on paper, to anyone in Canada for free (at least for now). EasyPost even goes one step further in making 'easy' for people to send letters. Don't know the person's address? No problem. They provide search tools whereby users can look up people's address using their name or phone number. They even go as far as providing reasons for people to write and send a letter - i.e. "To tell a story about a trip, vacation, or adventure". So now, there's no excuse for you not to send one.
The process is simple: go to their Website, type in the address of the person you would like to send a letter to, type the letter, preview it and then send it. The letter is then printed out, put into an envelope and mailed - pretty cool.
