Interactive Podcasting
It is evident that people no longer only want be consumers of media - they want to be contributors as well. User generated content has taken over the Web - user comments and ratings to wikipedia and youtube are replacing the static, one-way communication channels. People have something to say and they are finding ways to speak out.
With the rising popularity of podcasts, a new channel of 2-way communication has evolved. Podcasting is going interactive. Sites like Waxxi, a presenter and producer of interactive podcasts, are enabling users to engage in 2-way interactive podcasts - where people can pose real-time questions and comments to the podcasts.
Engaging an audience is extremely important; Waxxi is taking the steps to provide interactive podcasts to wanting audiences. Although currently in beta, we can expect to see a number of features to be rolled out to complement their interactive podcasts. Waxxi will also function as a business-focused global social network with groups that revolve around their podcast topics (e.g., business blogging, today’s web, investor talk). This feature will deliver an added value to the participants in the podcast and to those who miss out but are interested in the topic.
Engaging, interactive user experiences are driving and shaping how media is consumed.
