Interactive Review:
THE PLAY
MojoPages & Multimedia
One great thing about sites that enable user reviews is that people who read the reviews are able to get, although at times biased, 'real' user reviews that offer a practicality that once was not there.
In the past, user reviews that were posted on sites had been hand picked to portray the brand/site in a positive light - there was not much room for criticism. However, these days we are able to leave our own reviews (positive, negative, neutral or whatever it may be), in real time. Reviews can be on anything - from digital equipment to restaurant service to a professor's knowledge. If it's on the Web, chances are someone has or will do a review of it; and, it will likely be delivered with the user's own perspective - not the brand's or company's.
A new site, MojoPages, currently in beta, has created a platform for users to create and upload interactive, multimedia user reviews. Reviewers can utilize any combination of text, images, sound and video to create a dynamic review of local businesses for others to experience. Use of multimedia in the context of user reviews gives those that consume the information a 'richer' and possibly more fulfilling experience.
When you consider the rising popularity of social sites like YouTube, MySpace, and Digg - it is very easy to see the site features that allow users to contribute to the media they consume are vital to their success and rise in popularity. On all of these sites, users are able to contribute content - either by creating it themselves or by posting comments or through some sort of voting system. MojoPages is following suit and, like the others, is allowing for increased user interactivity by enabling an enhanced form of user reviews.
I give MojoPages two thumbs up for creating a platform for multimedia reviews - i am sure with the ease and popularity of online video it won't take long for MojoPages to fill up with user reviews.
