Technology That Makes a Difference

We have seen how technology can make things easier for us: keeping in touch with friends via social networks, shopping for items around the globe from the comfort of our own homes through online shopping sites, and being accessible almost 24 hours a day anywhere in the world with mobile phones and laptops.  But besides making things easier for us, how about making things safer.  Well, Rave Wireless, a technology company, offers services that utilize mobile technology to enhance safety and well as make users' lives easier - seems like a perfect combination.

Ok, before you get too excited Rave's services are targeted at colleges and universities, so unless you are in school, work for a school, or have family members in school you might not benefit from these services quite yet. So, what do they do?  Basically they use a technology that most of us are unable to leave the house with - the mobile phone, to make our lives easier and in some cases safer..  The product range includes Rave Academic, Rave Guardian, Rave Transit and Rave Extender, among others.  I want to point out Rave Guardian - the others you can click on to read about yourselves.  Rave Guardian is a safety application that is implemented over a Rave certified mobile handset that is equipped with a GPS.  Basically, a person (student) that is using this application can activate a Rave Guardian timer on their handset when they feel unsafe if the timer runs goes off before the user deactivates it an alarm will be sent to campus security and their profile and GPS location will be accessible for them to respond accordingly.

Rave has created an extension to an existing technology that has the potential to make a difference in people's lives around the globe.
